Graduates of MetroTown summer camp are invited to participate in year-round institutes, offered four times during the school year. MetroTown Institutes are eight-hour programs that help participants better understand the experiences and cultures of different demographic groups in Miami by visiting their neighborhoods and learning from their leaders.
Each institute allows participants to interact with and learn experientially about one aspect of Miami’s cultural identity, while also building awareness of social issues within the community. Institutes may focus on the experience of a specific demographic, an historic event, or cultural institution that has impacted Miami’s identity.
